Everyone on your feed has already posted about the ribbon cutting. Mayor Linda Gorton was there. So were UK student-athletes, who ran through a breakaway banner in front of a building that used to be a Tilted Kilt. Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux opened at 1030 South Broadway on August 31, and by every measure that matters to a restaurant, it's a real story: the chain's first Kentucky location, about 125 new jobs, three video walls, and a patio with garage doors that actually open.
That's the part everyone's covering. It's not the part that changes what your Saturday looks like this fall.
The restaurant is new. The parking is different. If you've been parking at Structure 1 or the Yellow or Red lot near Kroger Field for the last few seasons, none of those options exist anymore in 2026. Farm Road, which a lot of regulars have used to cut across on foot or by car before kickoff, is closed for the entire season. If none of that showed up in your feed alongside the mozzarella stick photos, you're not alone. Most of the coverage this week is about what opened. The thing worth planning around is what closed.
What Actually Opened at 1030 South Broadway
Walk-On's took over the space that used to be Tilted Kilt, which closed back in May. The new restaurant runs year-round, with a menu built around scratch-made Louisiana dishes: wings, burgers, seafood, and Cajun plates, alongside the usual sports-bar staples. Fifty TVs, a private dining space with its own bar, and a small stage round out the build.
What makes the address matter more than a typical restaurant opening is what's happening right next door.
The KSBar Story Nobody's Telling Straight
For almost eight years, KSBar & Grille was the place Kentucky Sports Radio broadcast from. Founder Matt Jones built it into a daily gathering spot, not just a game-day one. That ended in early June, when KSBar shut down full-time operations. Jones said the decision came down to financial pressures in the current market, and by his own account, the last radio show in the building drew a full house of fans who showed up to see the crew off.
A few weeks later, the second half of the story landed. Walk-On's would take the neighboring space, and the old KSBar location would come back, but not as it was. It reopens now only for Kentucky game days and select special events, including trivia nights with Jones himself. KSR still broadcasts live from there before kickoff. The name and the radio presence survived. The daily bar didn't.
"KSBar has always been about bringing Kentucky fans together," Jones said of the arrangement.
That's the actual shift worth understanding if you live near this corridor. The spot you might have dropped into on a random Tuesday for wings and a game on the TV is gone. What's there now only opens when Kentucky plays or when there's a specific event on the calendar. If you're used to treating this stretch of South Broadway as an everyday option, it isn't one anymore. It's a stadium-day building with a restaurant next to it that happens to stay open the rest of the week.
The Parking Map Is the Part Worth Screenshotting
Here's where the season actually gets complicated for anyone who drives to Kroger Field.

If you've had a routine for the last several seasons that involved any of the first three rows in that table, it doesn't exist this year. The reserved single-game option now sits at Woodland and Columbia, a longer walk than most fans are used to, and cash won't work at the gate.
None of this is a rumor floating around a fan forum. It's the actual operational change for 2026, and it's the kind of detail that gets buried under restaurant openings and season previews because it's not exciting. It's just true, and it affects every home game.
The Shuttle Still Runs, Just Plan the Timing
The good news is Lextran's gameday shuttle is still in service, running the Virginia Avenue route, which passes right by the Walk-On's and KSBar block, along with a downtown route. Shuttles start three hours before kickoff and keep running for an hour after the final whistle, and fare is a dollar each way. If the new parking map has you further from the stadium than you're used to, this is the piece that closes the gap, but only if you time your arrival around that three-hour window rather than showing up thirty minutes before kickoff expecting a shuttle to be waiting.
Seven Saturdays, One Thursday Habit
Kentucky opened the Will Stein era on September 5 with a 45-13 win over Youngstown State at Kroger Field, Stein's first game as head coach. The Wildcats host seven games at Kroger Field this season: Youngstown State, Alabama, South Alabama, LSU, Vanderbilt, Florida, and Louisville, with the Alabama matchup landing September 12 on ABC as one of the marquee early tests of the season. The regular season closes November 28 against Louisville in the Governor's Cup.
Kroger Field also rolled out lower concession prices and other fan-experience changes this season, on top of everything shifting on the parking side. That's the actual rhythm of fall in this part of Lexington now, restaurant opening aside.
The new restaurant will get you through the door. The parking map is what decides whether you get there on time.
